If it makes you happy …

Random things that inexplicably make me a little giddy:

Drive-through car washes. Or, more correctly, “put your car in neutral and let us pull you through” car washes. Even better than the full-service treatments that result in vacuumed floor mats and Armor-All-treated tires. If they have the giant blow-dryer at the end, like the Arco at 16th and Thomas does, so much the better. (Yes, I have this picture in my phone.)

Brush Brush Brush” by Of Montreal. Added bonus: The song lasts just about as long as you’re supposed to spend brushing your teeth. (You can download it on iTunes.)

Fango mud by Borghese. Or, as it’s known at Casa Flor, “Hangover Fango.” None of that “Fango Delicato” crap—nothing but full-strength Fango will work on hangover mornings (or, more likely, afternoons). Last holiday season, Bloomingdale’s was selling vat-sized jars—32 ounces instead of 17.8 ounces. I bought two. (“Merry Christmas, future hung-over me!”)

Typographical errors in signs. Not so much misplaced quotation marks or apostrophes — or, as they would put it, apostrophe’s — as full-on misspellings. Unless that tea at Two Hippies Beach House tastes like chia sprouts. Then again, the cactus tacos are so delicious and inexpensive, I wouldn’t care. (Yes, I also have this picture in my phone.)

WHAT SAM WORE: 11-19-09
“Sweater Week” has been amended to “Corduroy Pants Week.”
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
The shirt: Long-sleeved velour pullover by Martin Gordon, from Last Chance.
The pants: Curry-colored cords from Uniqlo.
The shoes: Boots by Dr. Martens, from Last Chance.
The scent: Ouarzazate by Comme des Garçons Parfums, from Flight 001
in San Francisco. (If I had that much money to splurge with,
I would buy all the incense-based scents that constitute Series 3.)
