What Sam Wrote: “Supplementary Knowledge”

Another non-food piece! This one is, technically, dietary-related, though, since it’s about supplements. Did you know that zinc can interfere with antibiotics, and that iron is the top poisoner of kids? Who’d have thought supplements were so much danger in bottled form? (That’s not really the point of the piece, though.)

It was interesting to take a closer look at some of the pills that many people pop every day “because they’re good for you.” Me, I’m lucky if I remember to take a multivitamin. I’m getting into the routine, though, so apparently when you do enough of these stories, bits and pieces start to rub off on you. (Not literally.)

And by the way, I had nothing to do with the addition of the black bean burger recipe. I was as surprised as could be when I saw the final result. (Maybe the design came up a little short page-wise?) Here’s a promise: No food story I ever write will include the phrase “vegan mayonnaise.”
